John Henry The sound quality on 'Bundeena" is amazing; Messrs. A'Hern & Bryant have a lot to be proud of, with this masterpiece. The weight of all three instruments is perfect and complimentary and the stereo separation of the drum kit masterly, indeed!

The double stopping on 'Blues on The Prairie' is superb, it is beautifully captured - So good is the sound on Bundeena, I have upgraded my head phones a couple of levels...Bliss. Favorite track: Big Moon.

about

The first McGann release since the ARIA-winning Playground (with Sandy Evans) in March 1997, Bundeena returns to the basic trio, with a lineup approaching its 20th year of musical collaboration.

‘This album has more of the dreamy, the languid, the exotic and purely beautiful than the McGann trio has ever recorded before. It is, fittingly, a golden album, named for the sunlit place where McGann once worked as a postman and practised daily in seaside heath and gum forest.’ John Clare.

A rich diversity of original Australian compositions are provided by McGann and Swanton, Alister Spence, Sandy Evans, Tony Gorman and Gai Bryant.

US critic Jerome Wilson wrote of McGann that ‘If this guy was American he would have reached “next big thing” status years ago’ (Cadence, April 2000, of his performance on Susan Gai Dowling Band’s Rent Party).

Bundeena provides further support for that view.
